Brief Review - Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3

· Video games

I have always felt that the Red Alert titles for Command and Conquer were the best. The original Red Alert was my first initiation to the Command and Conquer universe and I was hooked right off the bat. The cut scenes are great with some great guest-stars and over the top acting. The units are unique and got even more creative as the series evolved.

Red Alert 3 has kept up the tradition of the previous titles in the series by using cut scenes that are entertaining and going over the top with the creativity of the units. It took me a while to figure out how all of the units worked and how best to use their special abilities. Since they used the story line of messing with the timeline early on, EA is able to do whatever they wanted to the story and rewrite history. This title introduces a new faction because of the distorted timeline - Empire of the Rising Sun (Japan). Also introduced in this game is the co-op commander feature which gives the game a different feel, but a great new perspective. Overall, I loved the game and enjoyed working through all 3 campaigns.

My only reproach was the introduction of a different looking Tanya who wears a pound of makeup out in the battlefield. The original one with the dark hair, natural look and fiery personality was the best. Some things shouldn't be messed with.....
